Three and out. NFL week 1 review

Quite some heartbreaking in NFL week 1. Oakland, Cincy and Buffalo fans all in tears. New hope for Jets and Saints fans. But it is only week 1.

My fantasy team scored 88 point of which 43 could be contributed to Drew Brees. I came out a winner on opening day but I have to pick up some free agent players off the waiver wire to improve my team since Philly´s D. is not similar to the Lions.

Dallas started the season with a win in Tampa. Winning on the road is never a bad sign in the NFL but the Dallas defense looked like vanilla to me. Wade the self proclaimed Mr. Fix it has not been able to put together a solid defense for the Cowboys. Special teams have, mainly because of the addition of kickoff kicker and tackler hustler Buehler, improved. But a lot will have to be fixed before Sunday night otherwise Jerry will get impatient soon.

The biggest surprise may have been the Jets victory in Houston. Not much time to enjoy since the wizard of Oz and his spyware will arrive in the Big Apple trying to spoil the great start. King Ryan has, in a tribute and heir to Buddy, installed a 41 defense in New York. Thomas Jones is also for real and given the competition and schedule the Jets should be able to make a run for the play-offs and more. Sanchez is a cool customer and can deal with the pressure. Thank you USC for not deciding to make cupcake schedules like so many of the big colleges do.

Here a qucik review of my picks and games of the first week.

Tennesse (3.5)@Pittsburgh (1.39) +3

Pittsburgh by a fieldgoal. And so it was. I expect a slide in the Steelers performance the next month

Dallas (1.36 +13)@Tampa Bay(2.76)

Dallas the winner +14. +13 it was and Dallas defense did not look pretty. They were not able to stop Tampa driving down the field. Come on Wade fix it. Romo looked comfortable but running game and scoring earlier in the game has to improve

Denver (2.8)+5@Cincinnati(1.39)

Cincy +7 my pick was wrong due to a sportsmiracle.

Detroit(6)@New Orleans+18(1.11)

Saints +21. actually it was +18 Detroit is on its way back to be a respectable 50/50 team

Jacksonville(3.5)@Indianapolis+2(1.35)

It will not be easy for Manning and the Colts. Colts +6

Kansas City(5.3)@Baltimore+14(1.1)

KC +3. Could have been but no

Miami(2.58)@Atlanta+12(1.46)

Dolphins +14. Wrong again. Fumbles by ex Cowboy Fassano killed all hopes for Miami

Minnesota(1.44)@Cleveland+14 (2.96)

All day and a relaxed Favre will walk away with the win. Vikes +21. Enough said here

NY Jets(2.7)+17 @Houston(1.45)

Texans +14. Wrong and what a surprise

Philadelphia(1.27)+28@Carolina(2.04)

Panthers +6. Who will leave first Jake del Homme or Fox. They should blame the defense too in the Carolinas

San Francisco(3.25)+4@Arizona(1.31)

I think Singeltary was a much better player than coach. Cards +7. Both wrong. Give Singletary and Hill credit for this one.

St. Louis(3.9)@Seattle+28(1.23)

Hawks over Rams. Seattle +21. +28 and a shutout. Seattle the early dark horse to advance to the NFC championship game. JJ and Hasselbeck looked good and if Housmanszadeh picks up the pace it will be a hard team to beat.

Washington(3.6)@NY Giants+6(1.34)

Giants+10. The win was actually less impressive than media will try to make you believe.

Chicago(2.58)@Green Bay+6(1.47)

The Bears will win. Chicago+3. Well done by the Packers but Chicago looked good at times.

Buffalo(5.6)@New England+1(1.15)

It is a divisional game, the Bills are heavy underdogs and New England working with makeover defense against Terrell Owens and nifty Bills backs. Ingredients for an upset. Bills +7. It did nearly happen. Bills are a better team than advertised.

San Diego(1.2)+4@Oakland(3.85)

Oakland with McFadden will win. Raiders +10. Wrong again, but Cable will get the Raiders going. Just win baby.

Picks balance 7 out of 16 (not so good) 1 point spread right (so so)
